Get some Coco

The biopic film on Coco Chanel is gaining marketing momentum, given Audrey Tatou's starring role. Fader's initial review of the film, though, gives me pause, if only because I think Fader has some quality filtering. In any case, there is a new photography collection coming out that was conceived of in 1962 on Ms. Chanel by Douglas Kirkland. Titled Mademoiselle - Coco Chanel / 1962, the collection features spontaneous shots of Coco at her craft. Worth a look - comes out in August according to Amazon.

And who says the French are not market innovators???

As much as Americans criticize the French for not making love to the markets the way we U.S. capitalists do, there seems to be a lot of innovation coming out of Les Francais. Check out online furniture startup My Fab which recently scored a round of approximately $7M in financing. My Fab takes a bite out of Design Within Reach's premise that great looking furniture has to be super expensive by taking out the middlemen and hooking customers up with the manufacturing sources directly. Brilliant!!
