The Roitfeld dynasty

I recently stumbled upon the very chic blog I Want to Be a Roitfeld. It chronicles the Roitfeld clan --- Carine, Julia, and Vladimir...abound with beautiful photos and a diary of events. I was surprised to learn that Vladimir is now with Giovanna Battaglia; given G's incredible style, it comes as no surprise. I'm sure maman approves!

Domino Magazine rises from the ashes...between London and NY = LONNY!

I was doing my usual read through WWD today and came across the BEST NEWS EVER. Two former staffers from Domino, Michelle Adams (Habitually Chic did a great interview with Michelle back in April) and Patrick Cline (Urban Sardines has a nice profile of Patrick) are launching an online-only shelter magazine called Lonny (or LonNY as it stands for "London" and "NY"). Former EIC of Domino, Deborah Needleman is featured in the issue. Check out the inaugural cover --- definitely retains the Domino aesthetic.

On a side note for Conde Nast: I never understood why you made such a bad business decision to shutter Domino --- I could understand the print side but why couldn't you keep the online destination open? There was so much content there to fuel into an online business model. Well, hopefully Lonny Mag can make it happen. I can hardly wait!

Front row at Topshop

So Fashion Week has wielded its storm on NYC and has now hit the other side. LFW kicks off! No denying the genius of Sir Phillip Green. He doesn't look like he gets fashion but he's hit the sweet spot among females who seek for that perfect mix of high and low. I do think you can get interesting results from this approach but I am tired of people saying that is their personal style philosophy. Can we please come up with something else?

Anyway, Topshop had their show in honor of LFW and this front row scene is pretty good. Ms. Alexa Chung, now a U.S. veejay (who would've thunk) with her fellow MTV star, Ms. Olivia Palermo. I was wondering what their conversation could possibly consist of?!? Maybe, I am too, taken in by Alexa's British accents. They always sound so much smarter over there. BTW, if you want to check out Alexa's daily style on MTV, you can check out the now frequently updated
Style blog on MTV.
